The Cal Poly Psychological Science Scholarship, the only scholarship currently available exclusively to students in the department, is in its second year of funding.

The scholarship provides funding to a psychology major interested in pursuing a research career rather than a clinical or counseling career.

For the 2015-16 academic year, $900 will be awarded to a student who has a minimum 3.5 GPA, has completed at least two years of coursework, and shows promise in the discipline of psychology as an empirical scientist. The latter will be demonstrated by coursework and/or faculty supervised research.

Interested students submit an essay about their career goals. Recognizing the importance of need as well as merit, when possible, preference is to be given to students from Cal Poly partner schools, first-generation college students, or those with financial need.

If you are interested in supporting this scholarship, wish to create additional scholarship opportunities for students in the department’s programs, or want to discuss other ways in which to match your interests with needs in the department, please contact Dave Cohune or Jacquelyn Hayes in the College of Liberal Arts Advancement Office, 805-756-6246.
